create (Mama): Robots!

As promised friends, Robot pants! These are the "quick change trousers" from Anna Maria's Handmade Beginnings.  As I wrote about yesterday, I am not a sewing-from-a-pattern kind of Mama so I was a little (ok... very) apprehensive about sewing these pants. Especially since there was gorgeous fabric involved. But with a trial pair out of the way, these really did come together quickly...

And just in time! Billy has decided, against Mama's better judgment, that he really must crawl in order to keep up with bigger sister. Crawling, combined with his love for solid food, is going to be really hard on clothing. A pair of reversible pants will be a big help: not one, but two pairs of knees to wear out.

The fabrics are "Robot Factory" by Robert Kaufman and "Diamond Ikat" by Dear Stella, both bought locally. I've never sewn with such quality fabric before, and now I understand better why people invest in fabric. It ironed well, cut beautifully, and was such a joy to sew with.

But knowing my little man is going to be growing into something Mama-made was the best joy of all!
