I never fully appreciated the sanctuary of a weekend before we had kids. When newly married, I woke up with the sun on Saturdays with ideas and projects- much to the protest of my sleep-loving husband. Not anymore! My best Saturday mornings lately include both of the kids waking up early then falling back asleep tucked into bed with us, then leisurely breakfasts in pajamas. Saturday mornings are an important benchmark of our weekend together, as are Sunday afternoons. So if I'm going to invite neighbors over for part of their precious Sunday afternoon, it should include sweet invitations and good food...

This week I've suddenly felt like I'm cooking for three people. Now, there's been three of us eating adult food for awhile now- and a fourth that's quickly on his way- but Isia's servings didn't really count when compared to our own. Not anymore. With a growth spurt upon us, my daughter has ate her weight in cottage cheese, Mama's homemade yogurt, bananas, and whatever else is on the menu. Which means we're going through more food these days- and more containers. It's hard enough for the art teacher in me to recycle a container instead of finding a further use for it, but to part with lids is excruciating. Which means I've been stockpiling lids, and lids, and more lids. So I've been working more lids into our artworks...
When we receive mail in our house, like here, it's not just an occasion- it's an Event. With lots of running around, twirling, and a few songs added in for good measure. So you can imagine the excitement surrounding our newest package...
